Have you ever noticed that you only have one floor cleaner at home? However, between the kitchen, the living room and the terrace, you certainly have different types of coverings and it would be amazing if they all had the same properties. The tiling, the carpet and the parquet have their own needs for their maintenance. Today is therefore the time to choose the right product and method for each of them.

The tiling

The practical coating par excellence, the tiling reigns almost in absolute master over all the rooms considered as wet because it does not fear water. Its smooth surface prevents dirt from getting stuck in it and its solidity allows scouring without fear. For all these reasons, tiling is easy to maintain. While some prefer an industrial cleaner, others recommend sweeter recipes such as wheat bran or potato cooking water. Our preference is to mix hot water with white vinegar and baking soda, unstoppable. Against a tough spot : rub with black soap.

The floor

On the heart, it is often the one we prefer because it combines warmth and character. Maintenance side, it is another thing because the parquet has from this point of view there too, a sacred character. Start by determining what type of parquet it is. If it is vitrified, cleaning is easier because it has been treated for that. Its cleaning requires a mop with a suitable cleaner. For a polished parquet, we recommend a barely damp microfiber mop. Same thing for oiled parquet. Remember in all cases that the parquet fears water, so it is best to use easily wrung brooms. Against a tough spot : still the diluted black soap!

Stone

When you are lucky enough to have a stone floor (granite, marble, slate, etc.) at home, it is rare that you choose to change it. Its natural appearance, its resistance and its cachet are practically unanimous. To maintain it properly, the stone floor must be washed regularly. If your cleaning is frequent, you can simply rub with a microfiber mop wet with hot water. For more thorough cleaning, use water with a little black soap. Against a tough spot : rub with a wet brush and baking soda.

The carpet

The maintenance of the carpet is partly responsible for its gradual disappearance in our homes. Its fragile appearance, especially when it is light in color, does not forgive when a stain appears. To maintain your carpet effectively, two commands must be observed: first fairly regular dry cleaning, for example with bicarbonate, then more thorough cleaning once a year, ideally with a shampooer. Against a tough spot : the land of powdered sommières.

Natural fibers

Ideal when it comes to restoring too damaged soil, seagrass is more inexpensive. We imagine him hating water and yet he supports this kind of wet treatment very well. To clean it, it is enough to pass a damp mop regularly. It is even recommended to moisten it so that it does not become too brittle and thus ensure its longevity. Be careful, this is not the case with sisal! The slightest stain of water or other liquid will result in a halo difficult to remove. To maintain your sisal, you need to shampoo the powder about twice a year. Against a tough spot (only for seagrass): a cloth impregnated with ammonia to gently dab.

The plastic floor

The incredible diversity of patterns and styles of plastic floors has largely contributed to the success of this type of coating. As plastic floors are quicker to install and inexpensive, they often represent an economical and modern solution for renovation. On the maintenance side, they are considered easy to live with because they are treated at the base to retain no dust or liquids. However, beware of appearances because plastic floors are not that resistant and they do not tolerate washing well with water. To best treat its plastic soil, prefer a damp cloth and soapy water. Against a tough spot : we come back to diluted black soap.
